PADI Specialty Courses
Calling all wreck enthusiasts: jump on board this exciting and popular course!
If you’re at least 15 years old and are already a qualified Adventure Diver with PADI, you’re ready for the wreck diving adventure of a lifetime!
Imagine exploring historic shipwrecks, crashed airplanes and even sunken cars at the bottom of the ocean?
But wait – there’s more! Not only do you have a chance to explore a bit of history underwater, but you’ll be amazed at the amount of marine life that has become accustomed to these foreign objects and in some cases made homes inside the wreck sites.
Thanks to this phenomenon, dive operators, governments and environmental organisations have taken to sinking artificial reefs into certain areas in order to encourage coral growth and promote a healthy ecosystem.
Although the thought of diving in a sunken airplane is exciting, if wrecks aren’t approached in the correct way you could find yourself in some dangerous situations.
During the Wreck Diving course you’ll learn the correct techniques of entering wrecks that are still intact as well as how to navigate within a wreck, avoiding some of the common hazards that can prove risky for inexperienced wreck divers.
With the skills learned during the PADI Wreck Diving course you could travel the world exploring the many interesting wreck sites.
You’ll need to complete at least 4 wreck dives under supervision of your instructor before you can qualify for the PADI Wreck Diving Speciality course.
In short, wrecks are a hub of activity and well-worth exploring, with plenty of nooks and crannies that have the potential to be hiding all sorts of weird and wonderful creatures.
Taking the Wreck Diving Speciality course gives you the freedom and confidence to explore wrecks safely, and that’s an exciting thought.
By the end of the course you’ll be confident using wreck-specific diving equipment and will also be able to research wrecks to find out their type and history, useful information that will help you plan and organise a wreck dive.
