PADI Deep Diver Course

Specialty Dive Courses

Deep divers are some of the most adventurous divers out there – the ones always looking to see the new, exciting and the unseen.

If you’ve ever wondered where that sheer drop actually leads or what might be swimming just below where you’re qualified to go, doing the PADI Deep Diver course is your chance to find out.

WHAT is all the fuss about?

Although there’s always plenty to see around the 18 metre mark, some divers choose to explore deeper depths to see what else is out there.

Of course there’s no need to go deeper in a location where you’ll simply see the same creatures as you would at shallower depths, but if it’s a known fact that the varying depths offer more to see, a deep dive is definitely worth it.

WHAT will I learn?

You’ll become familiar with some of the specialised equipment that is needed for deep diving and have a chance to practice with it extensively under the careful supervision of your instructor.

You’ll be made aware of the correct way to behave on a deep dive – thrill seekers without any regard for safety are not the right kind of divers to be diving deep.

WHERE will it take me?

Much deeper than you’ve ever been before! Bear in mind that deeper dives are not always busier dives in terms of marine life, and generally the more colourful corals are closer to the surface, but going deeper can present you with the chance to explore shipwrecks and amazing walls, ledges and overhangs.

If visiting Sipadan, the Deep Diver course is especially valuable as there are a number of fantastic drop offs to be seen just off the shallows.

WHEN will I be ready?

The PADI Deep Diver course takes place over 2 days and requires at least 4 dives to qualify. One of these dives is at a depth of around 30 metres and one is at 40 metres.

WHY should I be excited?

Deep diving is a means to an end – the deeper you go, the more likely you are to see creatures you’ve never seen before.

There are also historic wrecks lying at the bottom of the ocean as well as walls and drop offs that stretch as far down as the eye can see. Doing this course will allow you to maximise your scuba diving experiences and advance you further in the sport.

HOW do I do it?

The PADI Deep Diver course involves assistance with planning, organising and preparing for deep dives.

There are also specific equipment considerations to bear in mind before plunging down to beyond 18 metres. Once your instructor is comfortable with your knowledge and understanding of the entire deep diving experience, you’ll do at least 4 deep dives to qualify.
